Fire Inspector
 Christina Smith is a sworn state peace officer and has been a Deputy State Fire Marshal with the Iowa State Fire Marshal Division for the last four years. She serves as a Fire Inspector assigned to the Fire Prevention Bureau, is a trained law enforcement officer, and is certified as a Federal Healthcare Surveyor through the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). As a state fire inspector, she is responsible for surveys of federal health care facilities, and state assisted living and adult daycare facilities, jails/prisons, schools/colleges, childcare facilities, and other public buildings to ensure compliance with codes. She also conducts inspections related to and investigates building complaints, fires in health care facilities, and conducts fireworks licensing inspections. Before transferring to the State Fire Marshal’s Office, she worked as a Special Agent in the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation for seven years. Prior to joining law enforcement, she had experience in the manufacturing and engineering fields and retail management.

Christina serves as a field training officer (FTO), fitness and tactical police performance instructor, CPR instructor, and Stop the Bleed instructor for her department. She has also served as the Curriculum Coordinator on the Iowa Department of Public Safety’s Basic Academy cadre staff.
